“ Came here early on a Sunday morning so the line was short. I got a regular croissant and my friend got the pain au chocolat. The croissants were fresh, flaky, buttery, and crisp. So delicious! ”

“ Have been probably 10 times since 2018 and, while I appreciate that they are open Sunday and that they also have croissants available even if you come late in the day, I've never had a croissant there that wasn't too browned on the top. I really like their chocolate cake, their kouign-Amman and pain aux raisins are excellent and even their baguettes are quite good but every time I get a croissant it is overcooked on the top of it. I see the awards and I know that they are a huge deal but every damn time it's burnt on top. I don't really love that area of the left bank so don't really go there often but it's good for a quick non-croissant pastry. ”

“ La Maison D'isabelle, nestled right on the delightful Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, is a bakery that truly lives up to the hype--long lines and all. At first, I was a bit put off by the queue, especially since it's right next to an open market that reeked of fish. But one bite into their incredible croissants and all was justified and forgiven. Put simply, these are the best croissants I've ever had... in life... full stop! They're flakey, buttery, and just the right consistency. Seriously, you can't find anything like this in the States. It's worth every single minute you spend in line. The location is as charming as the croissants. Boulevard Saint-Germain adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the whole experience. And the folks working there? Equally lovely. What a fantastic way to kick off the morning. If you find yourself in Paris, do yourself a favor and head over to La Maison D'isabelle. Will there be a line? Most likely. Will it be next to a market that smells like fish? Possibly. But trust me, these croissants are worth it. Bon appétit! ”

“ Hands down the best croissant I had in Paris. It was flakey, fluffy and super fresh. You could taste the butter throughout but it was not too overpowering. I understand why they got 1st prize for their croissant in 2018. However, they gave me the best pastry overall which was a Pavé au chocolat that I will forever dream about and make it a point to get every time we go back to Paris in the future. I also had their Kouign which was delicious and their pain au raisin, also delicious but maybe not my pastry preference. Highly recommend! ”

“ We went to La Maison d'Isabelle because of its high rating on Yelp, and it was spot on. It's more of a take-out place and there was an ever-increasing line when we went mid-morning on a Sunday. It was bustling and next to an outdoor market. We got a croissant and a cinnamon roll to go. There was no good place to sit down, so we went to the restaurant next door and ordered coffees and ate our take out food at one of the outdoor tables, which the waiter was understandably not thrilled about, but he made a bit of a face and said it was okay. As I wrote in one of my other Paris restaurant reviews, I can understand why Americans annoy the heck out of the French - we pretty much do what we want and we ask for a lot of stuff and have requirements that they don't quite understand. I also got a chocolate eclair that I bit into while walking down the sidewalk to our next destination. It was so amazing, I had to stop in my tracks and finish it. ”
